I was born Roger Sherman Aldrich in Washington DC's General Hospital and adopted through the Virginia Children's Aid Society in Virginia. Born in January, 1954.
The social services records left unredacted the last name (Aldrich) and known is that the mother was working in Washington, DC in 1953-54, was about 30 when I was born, and that she had just (probably in 1953) lost her mother.
Her siblings (eight of them) and father had her send me up for adoption.
I did some research in the late 80s and know she had a son about my age at home, and given the 1954-era stigma, was not hot on admitting to my birth. She would be, then, about 87 if alive.
I am still trying to fill in blanks for my children, and wonder if anyone has stumbled across a blank that I might fill in...
