Stephen Aldrich(1747-1813) and Jerusha Bartlett(1762-1813)

I am searching for a birth record for the son of Stephen and Jerusha (BARTLETT) ALDRICH who were married in Smithfield, Providence Co., RI in 1782. This son, also named Stephen ALDRICH, was born in 1783. He died in 1844, and was buried in Pine Corners Cemetery in Yates County, NY along side his wife Lucy A WILLIAMS (1782-1852)

I need to find a birth record for Stephen in 1783. (I have the birthdate from his tombstone.) I haven't had any luck finding the birth record in The Records of Old Smithfield, even though I have found other family records there. So he may have been born in NY, instead of RI.

Any help would be appreciated. I have much info re my line of this family (who eventually migrated to Iowa and points west) from Stephen and Lucy to the present. I'd be glad to share.
