He died in San Mateo, but was buried in the San Francisco National Cemetery was an Ensign in WWI. Both the death and burial records say that he died on 5/23/1940.

You can find him in the 1900 census in St. Louis, Missouri. In the 1910, he was stationed on the USS Bainbridge in the Philippines.
