According to the book "A Genealogy of the Wives of the American Presidents and Their First Two Generations of Descent" by Craig Hart", Fernando Thayer is the 8th great-grandfather of Barbara Bush.
Fernando's daughter married, and had children with, Jacob Aldrich (youngest son of George Aldrich). That would make president George W. Bush a distant cousin to anyone from Jacob's line, correct?
