James Sanford (Jim) Aldrich Jr.
New London Sept. 26, 1923 - Dec. 17, 2003
HANNIBAL - James Sanford (Jim) Aldrich Jr., 80, of New London, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Bill Dexheimer will officiate. Burial will be at Centenary City Cemetery in Ralls County.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home.
Mr. Aldrich was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Ralls County to James Sanford Sr. and Lucetta Mae Sharp Aldrich.
He was married to Audrey P. Mueller on Jan. 28, 1951, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Candace Frame and husband, John, of rural New London, Tamara Shannon and husband, Sam, of Hannibal, and Laurel Aldrich of rural New London; one son, James S. Aldrich III and wife, Janice, of Hannibal; one sister, Betty Shuford of Clarksville; his mother-in-law, Sena Mueller of Hannibal; six granddaughters; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lyndall P. Aldrich.
Mr. Aldrich was two weeks old when his family moved to the farm where he lived his life. As a young man he played guitar in a local band. He farmed for many years, then switched to factory work. He retired as a machinist working for Hannibal Carbide Tool. He was a board member of the Centenary Cemetery. He enjoyed working in the garden and yard, observing wildlife and listening to bluegrass music.
Memorials may be made to the Centenary Church Restoration Fund.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Shannon, Joshua Aldrich, Chris Bishop, Brad Nelson, James Frame and Jeff Frame.
