Melissa passed away sometime after their last son Lorenzo was born in 1848. George and the five boys moved westward and were in Chatfield MN by 1856 when George married Penelope (Johnson) Purdy. a widower, who had two boys. They lived in MN until four children were born. The family moved to IA where two more children were born. The family finally ended up in Whiting IA where George and Penelope passed away. I hope this may have been helpful. I think that George and Melissa were near St. Lawrence Co. NY. I don't have any confirmation.
