Aldred/Howard--Catawba Indians-mid-1800s

I am looking for information on the Howard side of my family. According to the information I have, they were Catawba Indians who lived near Salisbury around the mid-1800s--on an island in the middle of a river. One of their daughters married my great-grandfather Aldred, who was a minister. I used to know their first names, but have forgotten. Their son, my grandfather, who was born in the 1890s was named Torrence William Aldred. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it. I moved to MT three years ago which makes this search difficult. Thank you, Lisa Aldred
