State of Virginia, Pittsylvania County, to wit,
I Silas Haden the son and of One of the Heirs at Law of Anthony Haden Dec’d who was sometimes known by the name of Anthony D. Haden, do upon my Oath declare and Testify to the best of my knowledge and belief, that the said Anthony Hadon did enlist in the War of the Revolution for the Term of during the War and Served in the 3rd Regiment, under the Command of Col Richard Parker of the Virginia Continental Line and that he continued in the Service untill the close of the said War.I further declare that I have never Received a Warrant for the Bounty land promised to said Anthony Haden on the part of the United States nor do I believe that he ever received it or transferred his claim to it in any manner whatsoever.Therefore know all men by these presents that I Silas Haden aforesaid do hereby constitute and appoint Thomas Williams of Pittsylvania County State of Virginia to be my true and Lawful Attorney for me and in my name to demand and receive from the Secretary of War of the United States, a Warrant for the Quantity of Land due to me as aforesaid…….19th day of August 1835.

Mrs. Samuel M. Lovel & Joseph Davis of Pittsylvania County State of Virginia do hereby Certify that we were well acquainted with Anthony Haden Father of the within named Silas Haden, that he was for many years – a resident of Pittsylvania County and the Only man of that name in the said County, that we have heard him say he was a soldier in the War of the Revolution and we concur in that opinion and belief….This 19th day of August 1835.

Satisfactory evidence being produced to the Court it is ordered to be Certified that John Haden, Silas Haden, Sarah Haden, Joseph Haden, & Elizabeth Haden are the children and only heirs at Law of Anthony Haden Decs’d late of the Count of Pittsylvania, who is reputed to have been a soldier of the Revolution and that the said Anthony Haden died intestate and that the said children are over the age of twenty one years – 12th September 1835.

The papers in the case of Anthony Haden, deceased, on account of whose service the [lecref?] of the act of May 15 1828, are now claimed, have been examined and placed on our files.The evidence not being sufficient to show that he enlisted for the war and served to the end thereof a pension cannot be allowed.

This day Mrs. Frances Ferguson personally appeared before me Stokley Turner a Justice of the Peace for the County of Pittsylvania in the State of Virginia and made Oath in due form of law, that she [sic?] was well acquainted with Anthony Haden who lived many years in the County of Pittsylvania, that he was respected and generally believed to have been a Soldier in the War of the Revolution, That he departed this life in the month of May 1824 that she was present, and with him when he died, that he left a widow Rebecah Haden, That she was legally maried [sic] to Poindextor Alderson, and is now the wife of said Alderson.Given under my hand this 13th day of June 1835.

In July or August 1836 I sent to you a letter enclosing in the same evidence in surport [sic] of Rich’d Aldersons claim for a pension having married the widow of Anthony Haden a Revolutionary Soldier, at the same time I transmitted to the Bounty Land Office evidence of the said Haden being in service at the close of the War, and early in September I received a Warrant for 100 acres of Land for the Children of Said Haden, a few days after which I started to Florida, and did not return untill [sic] some day last week.Previous to my Starting I did not hear from you concerning Aldersons Pension, and on my return still find nothing from you.Please inform me whether you received a letter of the evidence above stated if so what has been the result of the examination of the testimony [superscript ye?] direct to me at Peytonsburg Pittsylvania County Virginia.I oblige your mo obt?Tho. Satisfactory evidence being produced to the court of Pittsylvania County now sitting it is ordered to be Certified that Anthony Haden was a Continental Soldier of the Revolution and served to the end of the war, that he departed this life on the 23rd day of May 1829 and left a widow Rebeccah Haden who was legally married to Poindexter Alderson on the 8th day of September 1831 and is now the wife said Alderson-
I William Turnstall clerk of the County Court aforesaid dohereby Certify that the above is truly transcribed from the records of the said Court – And I do further Certify that Stokely Turner before whom the annexed Power of attorney from Poindexter Alderson & Rebecca his wife to Thomas Williams was acknowledged and the affidavit of said Williams and Frances Ferguson were made, is and was at the time of the signing the same an acting Justice of the Peace in and for said County duly Commissioned and Sworn and that I believe his Signatures to be genuine -In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of office this 12th day of September 1835-Will Turnstall

I certify, That in conformity with the Law of the United States of the 15th May 1828, Anthony Haden, dec’d. who was a revolutionary soldier was entitled to pay at the rate of Eighty Dollars per annum from the third day of March one thousand eight hundred and twenty six [1826] to the third day of May one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine [1829], when he died; and that the amount is due to Rebeccah Alderson, who was the widow of said Anthony Haden….

This day Anderson Brightwell of this County a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United State of Sound mind and good memory personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said County and made Oath in dye form of Law that he was a Continental Soldier in the War of the Revolution, that he was well acquainted with Anthony Haden sometimes called Anthony D. Hadon Then of Hanover County State of Virginia.That the Said Anthony Haden did enlist in the year 1778 with Capt. Thomas Boyer or Bell [?] for the Term of during the War and Served in the 3rd Virginia Regiment under Col Richard Parker, afterwards he served under Col. Abraham Buford [superscript ye?].That the said Haden and himself were both in the same Company & served together, That he said Haden was in Service untill [sic] the end of the War, after which he moved to the County of Pittsylvany [sic] and lived many years in that County he saw him frequently and Often heard him say that he never did receive a Warrant for the Bounty land Promised to him at the time of his enlistment, that he the same Anthony Haden departed this life in the Month of May 1829 and left a Widow and several Children, Silas, Joseph, John, and others…..
I do Certify that Anderson Brightwell who appeared before me and made Oath as above, is a credible man and that his Statement is entitled to Credit.

This day Anderson Brightwell of this county a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United States, of Sound mind, and good memory, personally appeared before me Daniel Versen a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid and made oath in due form of Law that he was a Continental Soldier in the War of the Revolution, and was in Service to the Close of the Said War, that he was well acquainted with Anthony Hadon (Sometimes called Anthony D. Haden) then of King William County in the State of Virginia, that the said Anthony Hadon did enlist in the year 1778 with Captain Thomas Bell for the term of during the War and served in the 3rd Va Regiment under Col. Richard Parker Buford Va untill the close of the War and that the said Haden and himself were both in the same Company and Discharged at the same time, That since the War the said Anthony Haden lived many years in the County of Pittsylvania, he saw him frequently and often heard him say that he never Received a Warrant for the Bounty Land promised him, at the time of his enlistment, that the Said Anthony Haden departed this life on the [blank] day of May 1829 and left a Widow Rebecah Haden that she has since married Poindexter Alderson and is now living with him in the County of Pittsylvania.I do certify that the said Anderson Brightwell is a Man of Truth and that his Statement is entitled to Credit and full confidence
