Your message to Bobby Harris indicated that
Jacob and Phillip(my GG grandfather) went to
California during the gold rush. In the 1850
Floyd Co. census, Phillip, age 44, was in Floyd Co. with his wife and 7 children. Two
more were, Adeline and StewartL.in 1854-55.
The 1860 census shows Phillip, age 54,
working for Thomas Williamson, a merchant in
Floyd Co. and Mary (his wife) located in Roane Co. Va.(now W.V.) with 5 of her children, listed as a farmer.
