I am going out on a limb here--but if you think about it--to be a "pure blood" would mean generations of consistent inbreeding as to keep producing offspring with like genes--or pure genotype-as blood has nothing to do with characteristics of a bloodline.I realize historically (even now)there was/are cousin marriages....but over several generations...the "genealogy" is ever mutating and evolving so a "pure bloodline" is probably never possible.Guess theydidn't know we would have such things as DNA testing...did they?However I agree with you that for the political and other reasons it was written that way.Politics has always caused a lot of lies to be told.:^)
