To set the record straight for those who want to learn where there ancestors came from.

The name Alderete (or Aldaret, o Aldarete, o Aldrete), in my case the latter is an ancient and noble linage that began in the Asturian mountains, near Oviedo. The founder was the Count Don Alderedo o Aldretedo of Leon because of his intervention the conquest of Leon in 719. In other words, he was battling the Moors. Even though in the coat of arms, its says that he was originally or France, many authors confirm that he was Gothic and not French. (Visigoths ruled in Spain from 410 A.D.- 711 A.D.until the Moors invaded).
He did marry a French royal princess. His line established ancestral homes during the reconquest in Tordesillas, Toro, Valladolid, Olmedo, Salamanca, Toledo, Madrid, Andalucia, Aragon and Galicia. They also went to the Americas- that's us. I am not making this up it comes from "Diccionario Heraldico y Genalogico de Apellidos Espanoles y Americanos", por Alberto y Arturo Garcia Carraffa Tomo IV., Madrid.
