NEW YORK TIMES,May 12,1931,p.25 Obituary George Howell Gay Bronxville,NY,May 11.Funeral services were held here yesterday for George Howell Gay,landscape and marine painter,at his home,100 Kraft Avenue.His body was cremated.Mr.Gay died Friday at the age of 72. A descendant of John and Priscilla Alden,he was born in Milwaukee. after studying art at the Academy of Design in Chicago and under Paul Brown and Henry A. Elkins, he came East in 1889,making his home in New York.Twenty years ago he moved here.
