Robert (Leslie) ALCORN married Hattie C. NEWBY, 1884, Young County Texas. My records indicate she died in 1916 in California. He owned 160 acres in Roberts County Texas as well as land in Young County Texas.
Hattie was the daughter of John Henry William NEWBY and Louisa Catherine FORD. She was one of 5 known children to this marriage and was born 19 Jan. 1872 in Tarrant County Texas. Her other siblings were:
Annie Zeporia Newby, b. 17 Oct. 1873 in Graham, Young County, Texas. She married Albert Lee Lard.
Pearl Newby, b. 14 May 1876 in Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas.
Sam Houston Newby, b. 12 March 1883 in Graham, Young County, Texas. He married Oda Ella Meyers.
Jonathan Newby, b. 1883, d. 1883
There were many other 1/2 siblings.
The Newby family owned ranch land in Northern Roberts County Texas near and on the Canadian River and Talahone and Chicken Creeks for a time. It was sold to Albert Lee LARD and their daughter, Annie Zeporia. Much of the collective family early holdings remain in the family today. Their first homes were sod dugouts not far from the famous Adobe Walls.
Parnell was the first county seat of Roberts County. The county seat is now Miami, Texas.
Annie Zeporia NEWBY LARD was my Great Grandmother.
