I am also researching William Alcorn. I am a decendent of his daughter Elvira Alcorn.

History of Grant County, Wisconsin - William Alcorn, carpenter, Lancaster; a native of Ireland; he came to New York in 1833 and remained there until 1845, when he came to Grant Co., where he has since resided and worked at his trade. He was married in 1848 to Miss Miriam Lockardt, a native of Indiana. Mr. Alcorn has been, for over 25 years, a member of the I.O.O.F.; he is a member of the Grand Emcampment and has passed all the chairs of the subordinate lodge. They have ten children, eight of whom (four sons and four daughters) are living.

Death Certificate for Miriam Alcorn

Obituary - Grant County Herald, front page, Wednesday, August 16, 1916 - "Mrs. William Alcorn. Mrs. William Alcorn was born in Kentucky on Dec. 7, 1834 and passed away at her home in this city on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 9, 1916 aged 81 years, 8 months and 2 days. Deceased had ben an invalid for the last two years, but her last illness lasted about one week. She came to Grant County in 1849 and on April 1, 1849, was married to William Alcorn in Potosi. Two years later they moved to Lancaster and since that time has made her home in this town. She leaves three sons and two daughters: Rev. William Alcorn of Farifield, Nebr. George of Omaha, Nebr., Joseph of Ladysmith, Wis; Mrs. Elvira Rigdon and Rose Alcorn, of Lancaster. Mrs. Alcorn was a good Christian woman, a faithful wife and well liked by her neighbors and friends. Funeral Services were held at the congegational church, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Harberts. Internment at Hillside cemetery.
