Jim:

I afraid I can't help you very much with the James of Pike County. On the Ancestry Famil Trees, the following:
James W. Alcorn b abt 1842 Indiana, and died before 1874. married 19 Sep 1865 Pike County Indiana to Lucinda Brownfield. ( His father George is buried in Chappell Cemetery in Pike County.)

There are two James Alcorns on the Civil War soldiers from Indiana, one was James T. of the 1st Reg of Indiana Cav,He was a Corp, and later Sgt, Residence Posey Co. IN. The other in the 42nd Reg of Inf. Co G a Pvt, Residence Daviess Co enl. 10 Oct 1861 , mustered out 21 July 1865 Louisville Ky. Thats about the right time for him to have gone home, and married in Sep of 1865.

I was unable to find James and Lucinda on the 1870 census records, so don't know if they had children. Lucinda most likely married again before the 1880 census , so unable to find her then. Sorry I wasn't more help. But you must have found the wrong James Alcorn for your Bio.
