I am a relative of Elizabeth Lewis (my grandfather's aunt) who married Edwin Alcock in 1874 at St John's Church, Birkenhead. I have some information on the Alcock family which I am willing to share. There was a book published around the 1870's about the people of Birkenhead which mention the Alcocks. It said that some of them emigrated to South Africa and that one became the Mayor of Pretoria and I have long wondered whether that was actually true!
