What is the correct sequence of ancestors of Ralph Albritton b: 1656? (e.g. Who's his father, Joseph b.1633 or George b.1636 ?) I originaly thought the correct sequence was like this... "James Albritton b: 1705 & Elizabeth Lanier, his folks were Thomas Albritton & Agnes, his folks were Ralph Albritton & Mary Wooten, his father as George Albitton, his folks were Frances Albritton & Suzanne, his folks were Richard Albrighton & Elizabeth Pye, his folks were Thomas Birghton & Joane Hodgson Downs, his dad was William De Albrighton, his dad Richard De Albrighton, his dad Simon De Albrighton, his dad William De Albrighton and finally his dad Richard De Albryghton b abt 1340 Egnland died 1390." But now The confusing part is the tree linked below. I don't know who posted the tree or when but it is quite different from everything else I have found. It has a lot of details so seems it could be correct but is it? Ralph was the first to change the spelling of his name from Albrighton to Albritton. His name first appears in the records of York County in 1689 concerning the theft of some hogs. Ralph Albritton was originally thought to have been a son of George Albrighton and grandson of Francis Albrighton of York County, Virginia. However, a restudy of the wills and deeds of York County prove that this is incorrect. The male children of Francis including George left no male heirs. There is circumstantial evidence that he was the son of Joseph Albrighton of York County. Note: Joseph Albrighton was born in Staffordshire County, England around 1633 and came to York County, Virginia prior to 1650. James Albritton, the great grandson of Joseph, purchased a tract of land in Beaufort County Joseph Albrighton is believed to have died around 1670 in York County. The name of his wife is unknown. Ralphe Albritton of York County, Virginia is believed to be his son Notify Administrator about this message?
