Dear All,
This is an update fron England re my research over the past 6 months into our family.
I have checked the Bishop Transcript records for Grendon, Warwickshire which cover a few of the missing years from the Parish Records around 1675. These reveal that a John Alberton was buried in Grendon on 20th May 1675. Now John had previously married an Ellen Simmons on 28th Nov 1628 again in Grendon, (name then John Albrighton)
There are Parish records for them having four children:-
1) Elizabeth Albrighton, Ch 1629.
2) Thomas Albrighton, Ch 18 Mar 1631/32.
3)John Albrighton, Ch 29 Mar 1634, bur 14 Jun 1636.
?ester Albrighton,(daughter), Ch 27 Mar 1636/37.
Now if you examine the Albritton book, under No 20, John ALBRIGHTON, you will see that the will of Thomas Albrighton 1641 lists John as having two childre Thomas and Elizabeth. However there are no Parish records for John's marriage or Christenings of his children.
Now not only do the records fit in with John bn 7th Jan 1606/07, but his fathers will leaves land to his youngest son Thomas. Again is this indicative that John does not reside in Haughton?
Further evidence arrives again from the Bishop Transcrips which also list a Ralph Alberton as being buried in Grendon on 6th May 1676. Is this John's brother? Ralphe's wife Eizabeth is listed as being buried in Haughton in 1648, but there is no record of his death. It would perhaps seem logical for Ralphe to join his brother after his wifes death and his remaining family having moved to America. It should be noted that the name Ralphe appears common to Haughton but is unheard of in theGrendon area at this time.
It remains for me to recheck Haughton Parish and Bishop Transcript records to check that nothing has been overlooked. Of particular note is Richard No 30 in the book, who it states was born in Haughton in 1644 and had a son Thomas Christened there on 21 Feb 1673/74. On checking W.P.W. Phillman's transcripts for Haughton neither of the above is listed. This is important to check as a Richard Albritton / Alberton is listed as have children in Grendon in the 1670's / 80's. So this Richard could be the same one, i.e., Nephew of John and Ralph. However in view of damage to a number of years of Grendon Parish records, plus the Reformation it may be he is a further son of John or indeed Thomas.
I have brought this for anyone with an interest in the early history of our family to view.In addition I would appreciate any comment/observations re the likely validity of my findings / links.
