MRS. FREDA SOPHIA ZORN
JUNE 27, 1940
It has pleased Almighty God to call out of our midst and to Himself Mrs. Freda Sophia Zorn, nee Albrecht. She was born July 28, 1872, in Mechlenburg, Schwerin, Germany, and died peacefully at her home June 20, 1940, aged 67 years, 10 months and 23 days.
In July, 1893, she was married to Franz Zorn. This union was blessed with six children, four sons and two daughters, of which one, a daughter, preceded her mother in death in infancy.
The Zorn family with four children born in Germany, came to this country in 1907, and settled first at Graymont, Illinois, taking up farm work. In 1912 they moved to Chatsworth, where they have resided ever since.
Mrs. Zorn was a very industrious person, greatly concerned about the welfare of her family. In her modest way of living she made friends and was highly respected by those who knew her. About three years ago her health failed her and complications of ailments set in. In this long period of affliction she proved to be a patient sufferer, trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ as her friend and Saviour. Her end came suddenly, though not unexpectedly, caused by a stroke.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, four sons, Adolph, Frank, Paul and William, all of Chatsworth or nearby; one daughter Mrs. Charlotte Krohn, who has been at home and cared for her mother during her illness; twelve grandchildren, one brother, the Rev. William Albrecht, of Prairie View, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Nick Dewitt, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The funeral service was held on Sunday afternoon at the Evangelical church, Rev. J.V. Bischoff officiating. Interment was made in the Chatsworth cemetery.
The casket bearers were P.A. Koerner,Sr., Adam Ruppel, A.J. Grosenbach, Chris Ellinger, Albert King and Edd Shafer. Among those present from a distance were Rev. and Mrs. William Albrecht, of Prairie View; Mr. and Mrs. Nick DeWitt and daughter, Miss Marian; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Riekse, of Grand Rapids, Mich.
