My grandmother taught school on a settlement in South Dakota after graduating high school in 1909. She stayed with the Albrecht family while there. The nearest town was called Homsmer and it was about 40 miles west of Aberdeen. The children spoke a combination of Russian and German. I know that Mr. and Mrs. Albrecht had several children. The oldest boy named John and another named Fred. I have a couple of letters written to me by my grandmother about her experience there, as well as a couple of post cards sent to her by Fred. Let me know if this sounds right. I could make you copies of the pictures or letters. Joan
