Harrison County Cemeteries listed Bruce Cemetery, four miles east of Corydon on State Road 62. Only six inscriptions are given: Catherine consort of Wm H. Bruce d. 5 Sept 1846 aged 49 years; James Bruce d. 5 Jan 1835 aged 77 yrs; John Bruce d. 23 May 1847 age 18 yrs 2 days; Mary Bruce d. 4 Feb 1836 age 74 yrs; William M. Bruce d 29 Sep 1859 age 6yrs 6 mo 14 days; Wm H. Bruce d 19 Aug 1845 age 19 yrs. The cemetery was said to be in poor condition (1982). In 1986 the James Bruce descendants put up a new marker that gives a brief bio of James Bruce and on the base of the marker are the names of his children, including Piety ALBIN and Margaret ALBIN. I am wondering if this marker is the reason that it is thought that Piety is buried near Corydon. Altho the marker mentions James' service with George Rogers Clark, his grave was not included on the SAR list of Harrison Co Revolutionary War vet graves - at least the last time I checked. I wish it were as a protective measure; the cemetery is very close to the edge of the highway. I do not find any info in my notes on Absolam and/or Piety after 1850 census; it seems more logical to me that they would have moved in with one of their children in KY rather than siblings in Harrison Co.
I had not heard of a Scottish connection - I would certainly appreciate information on the Harrison Co IN Albins, Jeff. My great grandparents were John Albin and Caroline Williams.
