Hi Fred,

My family (not me personally) has information which shows our pedigree as follows:

John Albye (d. Braintree, MA 1673)
John Alabin (b. Braintree, MA 1653, d. Long Island, NY 1750)
William Allowbin (b. Rehoboth, MA 1674)
John Allowbin (b. Long Island, NY CA 1720, d. Long Island, NY 1815)
Jonathan Alleby (b. Long Island, NY 1754, d. Long Island, NY 1787)
John Alaby (b. Fairfield, CT 1785, d. Roxbury, NY 1845)

> From this point the Allaben family branches split (it is estimated that most current living Allabens descended from John and his sons (all born in Roxbury, NY):

Orson MacIntire Allaben (b. 1808)
Wilson Squires Allaben (b. 1810)
Jonathan Carle Allaben (b. 1813)
William Nelson Allaben Sr. (b. 1816)
James Rogers Allaben Sr. (b. 1823)

It is also noted that it was James Rogers Allaben Sr. who began spelling the family name "Allaben" and that later in his life John Alaby adopted this spelling and so did all his sons.

Previously we have had little information about the family from William Allowbin and beyond, other than names and scarce dates. For example, I have never seen any mention of the name of John Albye's wife, although other posters here have claimed her to be Abagail Searle. Further research indicates that an Abagail Searle married a different John Albee, descendant of Benjamin Albye in Groton, MA in 1732.

On another note, Jonathan Alleby married Mercy Bouton, whose pedigree traces back to Edward Raynsford (b. Staverton, England 1609, d. Boston, MA 1680) of the Winthrop Fleet, and Plantanagent descendent of William the Conqueror, William Marshal, and Henry III.

I hope this helps, as I welcome any help in discovering information about my ancestors of this period in history.
