Hello Howard My interest in LA Albee is strictly historical. The change in spelling made him easy to find but added nothing to what you gave. I would not be interested in his retirement file but I may consider getting his service record. Ancestry.Com (which I do not have) may have a condensed service record and I will check what's in his obituary. According to information in the local newspaper he had a remarkable career well worth posting for the benefit of the Albee family. For a researcher I would caution use of the word "regiment" and look for 17th. U.S. Infantry. Maine furnished over 70,000 men in the Civil War but only a few (I think I have the number) served in the regular army. The 17th. was part of an expansion ordered by Lincoln immediately after Fort Sumter. John Notify Administrator about this message?
