Martha Caroline is my gr grandmother. She and Thompson lived in Carroll Co., IN. Excuse me for correcting you, but as I understand it she did NOT abandon her children. After Thompson died of consumption (tuberculosis) the family was left with little money. She had to get a job doing housework for others. She took her daughter Sarah with her, but left the sons at home. Melissa did raise John, but she took him without prior consent while his mother was at work.
Martha Caroline (Albaugh) (Trent) Hiatt's father was George Washington Albaugh b 04 Jul 1827 in Preble Co., OH, where he m 18 Sep 1847 Eliza Davidson (marriage rec says Davis but it is Davidson in several other redords). He died 09 Aug 1901 Carroll Co., IN. Obit in The Vindicator 1901 p319 Batchelor Run District: "Brother Albaugh was a very quiet old brother"
George's father was John Albaugh b 16 Apr 1793 Frederick Co., MD, m 30 Jan 1820 Preble Co., OH Margaret (Rebecca) Ridenour, d 23 Jan 1875 Carroll Co., IN.
John was the son of Stephen Albaugh b ca 1764 Frederick Co., MD, probably the Stephen who married Juliet Albaugh, resided Huntingdon, Co., PA, Stephen d aft 1831.
Stephen was the son of Zachariah Albaugh II b 1734, m Susannah, d 1782 Frederick Co., MD. Susannh's will names all the children.
Zachariah II was the son of Zachariah Ahlbach I b 1698 GER m 09 Nov 1718 Anna Dumatt (Dimeda) Schumann d/o Nolgen and Agnes Schuman. Zach I d bef 1765 Frederick Co., MD. Anna b 09 Sep 1698 GER, d 1773 Frederick Co., MD.
Zachariah I was the son of Anthonius Ahlbach m 31 Mar 1688 Anna Schneider d/o Hans Heinrich Schneider. Anthonius d Mar 1730/31.
Anthonius was the son of Hans Theis Ahlbach d bef 1703 m Anna Margaretha_____.
