PEJANOVIĆ surname is predominantly of Montenegrin origin and is not related to toponym PEĆ.

Etymological root of PEJANOVIĆ surname is given name PETAR.

PEĆ in Serbian and PEJA in Albanian are etymologically related toponyms and have nothing to do with root of that surname.

PEĆ toponym, first recorded in XIII century, was transliterated into later PEJA in Albanian language following the typical pattern of substituting sound *t'/tj'* with *j*

(linguistic sources : Popović, Barić, Loma)
