You shouldn't/ Aren't the only Gekas in Greece. The Gheks from up north are devout Catholic Christians. When Northern ALbania fell to the ottomans, a lot of them fled from prosecution and migrated to Chameria; and then possibly Italy. Their origins ( northern Ghek) where then manifested to their last names. The recent Greek national soccer player has this exact name with northern Albanian origins as well.

Problem is, you have to know your previous surname to properly track down your lineage.
