Dear Mr. Peters:
Thank you for your reply.
Taqo is a short form for Dhimitraq which is the name Dhimitrios, patron saint of Thessaloniki.Because it's so hard for English speakers to pronounce and sounds so foreign, 90% of all the Dhimitris go by James/Jimmy in the USA.
If an Orthodox Christian marries a non-Christian or if he marries a Christian in a service outside of the Orthodox Church, he technically falls out of communion and would then need to repent of it in order to be recived back into the church. This isn't always followed strictly.
St. John the Baptist Albanian Orthodox Church was located in Sommerville until the early(?) 1950s when they bought their current building from St. George Alb. Orth. Cathedral, who then moved up the street to their present location.
You may consider a trip to St. John's on a Sunday at 10:00 AM.I recommend speaking with Nick & Marion and Johanna Adams, Mr. James Christo, Thom Evangelou, or my cousin Sandra Nazarro. My cousin's mother, Julia, is of that older generation and may remember something useful.Feel free to mention my name. They are a very welcoming community and will surely help you if they can.
Warm regards.May God bless you in your search.
