Hello!
My name is Marisa Alaniz Aleman. My grandfather was Cosme Alaniz who married my grand mother Manuela Ortiz after his first wife died, Socoro Ortiz. A long time ago, when i was a teenager, my grandmother showed me my grandfather's citizenship card. On it, his last name was spelled---ALANIS. i'm unsure of the story but his last name was Alanis and when he moved to the states people started writting it --- Alaniz instead of Alanis. I'm not sure if my grandfather ever corrected people in regards to the spelling because the lack of knowing English. The "Alaniz" family have had a couple of family reunions in Rio Grande, Tx that i have never attended. Although, i visted many family member as a child i don't recall names or places. I know it's an extensive family tree but i was wondering if anyone knew of my grandfater. i know he had 8-12 brothers and sisters. also, if anyone would kind to send me the Coat of Arms, i would greatly appreciate it.
