       Please take a look of this web page. According to this site the word "Alaníz(s)" has a Muslim origin (Al-Haniz) meaning "fertile soil

       My Dad "Domingo Treviño-Alaníz" was born in Nogal Raizudo, Cadereyta, Nuevo León, México December the 21st, 1914 and passed away in Monterrey, México Sepetember 17th, 1977. My Dad´s Mom (my Grandmother) name was "Petra Alaníz-Arispe" My Grandma Petra was born in 1890 in Allende, N.L., México and had two sisters: Francisca and Rafaela and one brother: Ignacio. My Grandma "Petra" Mom´s was Victoriana Arispe and her Dad´s was Anastacio Alaníz.
       My Dad had a sister (Guadalupe) and a brother (Julián).

       I have a little bit more information on my Dad´s relatives if anybody would like to know.
