Spanish surnames always include the fathers and mothers name. So Alamo would be his fathers last name and Mendiondo would be his mother's last name. This makes is easier for those of us interested in genealogy because we always have two lines to check. Do you know where in Cuba he is from? Or when he was born or died? I don't know if there is a connection, but the Alamo name is fairly unique.
