Sessions-Morris Wilcox Co, AL 1820s
I have been searching for the family of my ancester Stephen (or Stephens) Morris for some time.I have found a person by that name, of the right age & birthplace (b. abt 1812 in SC) living in Russell co, AL with Niece Amanda Sessions, single, age 30, and niece Rosa Sessions, age 4, presumably Amanda's daughter.Amanda was born in AL, of SC parents.
Stephen (mine) lived in Wilcox Co, AL in 1841.An Amanda Sessions, b. abt 1848 was born in Wilcox Co to John B. and Lydia (Bowen or Bowman) sessions.
In 1823, in Wilcox Co, Sarah Morris gave permission for Sarah Sessions to marry Green Vickers/Vickery.I cannot find any definite record of these folks in the census, although I can find land records for Green Vickers in the Wilcox/Dallas Co area.I did find a Mrs. S. Vickers in Wilcox Co in 1840, age 30-40.
Looking at all these facts together, I find myself wondering if the Sarah Morris had previously been married to a Sessions and that therefore Sarah Sessions Vickers (and very possibly John B. Sessions) were the half-siblings of Stephens Morris?John B. was born about 1804 in SC; Sarah would have been born before 1810 (census) and after 1802 - or possibly later, since she needed permission to marry in 1823.Daniel Morris, living next door to Mrs. S. Vickers in 1840 and in the same town as Stephens in 1847, was born about 1810 and Stephens himself somewhere between 1811-1814.This would then fit with the 1880 Stephen Morris living with his niece Amanda Sessions. On the other hand, I could be stretching a bunch of coincidences very thin.
Is anyone familiar with any of these families to confirm or deny this?
Thanks, Sharon
