John H. Kimbrough & wife Mary Penelope Stokes - Wilcox Co Alabama

I would appreciate any information on John H. Kimbrough and wife Mary Penelope Stokes who lived in Wilcox County, in the Prairie Bluff region, in 1850 and 1860. They married shortly after 23 December 1847, apparently in Wilcox County. John was the son of Nathaniel Kimbrough, and Mary Penelope Stokes was the daughter of Charles Stokes & Nancy Everett of Clarke Co Alabama.

What happened to John & Mary Kimbrough and their children after 1860? Did John perish in the Confederate Army? I cannot locate Mary or her children in 1870 or 1880. Did she possibly remarry in the 1860s, after John's death?

Thanks for any information.

Tim Hudson
