They have been well researched (not by me) and somewhere I've seen all their children listed. He is a DAR "Patriot". I believe he was originally from Beverly Manor, Christian's Creek, Augusta County, Virginia. His son, Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr., was born 1782, Abingdon, Virginia. The home of son Andrew Russell, III, Clerk of Court, still stands in Abingdon, today an inn. It's pictured on the internet. Maj. Andrew Russell, Jr., an Over the Mountains man, was in the Battle of Kings Mountain, N.C. I think he died in Tenn. He was the son of Andrew Russell, Sr., and Florence Henderson. His wife was the daughter of (Maj.?) Wm. Christian and Margaret Campbell (sister of Gen. Campbell, kin of Patrick Henry?). I see you have a Finley line. The late genealogist, Gen. Luke W. Finley, Sr., descended the brother-in-law of Col. Russell, U.S. Senator, Col. George Washington Owen, Mayor of Mobile, who's daughter wed Adm. Raphael Semmes, CSN, of the CSS Alabama. I do not know Luke's Findley line; but he had researched it. Luke was a good man; and missed.
