Williams family

The Williams family is numerous and confusing. I've been looking for my great grandfather my entire life without success.
After several abortive attempts, I now feel that William Jasper Williams may be Walter Williams father. All the evidence is circumstantial, but looks promising. Anyone who can help will be most appreciated. Here's what I think I know:
Walter Coleman Williams, b. 31 May 1873 in Springbank, d. 4 Sept 1935 in Copeland,Wash co. Ala. m. Martha Jane Jones probably in Sept 1910. (She was m. to Will Hopkins until then.)
I find Walter, age 7, living next door to Jasper in the 1880 census with George Batley family and listed as nephew. Other sources show connections between the two families.
It never ceases to amaze me how people can age, or 'youthen' between censuses, and their birthplace also changes. :)
