"Tuscaloosa News", Tues. Feb 27, 1934, pg 3; S. D. PARKER, 81, DIES AT HOME ON ROUTE 3 Aged And Widely-Known Farmer Succumbs to Brief Illness S. D. Parker, aged and widely known resident of Tuscaloosa Route 3, died late yesterday at his residence after a brief illness. He was 81 years old and spent nearly all his life in the Route 3 community. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Viana Parker, two daughters, Mrs. Stella Halliburton of Buhl Route 1, and Mrs. Ada McCann of Tuscaloosa Route 3, and three sons, Walker Parker of Northport, Ed Parker of Coker and Wesley Parker of Tuscaloosa Route 3. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in Calcedonia Baptist Church near Buhl, with the Rev. Eli Channell officiating. Mathis -Jones Mortuary conducted interment "Tuscaloosa News" Sun., Mar. 27, 1938, page 3; Funeral Rites Set For Mrs. Venie Parker, 86 Mrs. Vernie Parker, 86, died at her home on the Sanders Ferry Road Saturday morning following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock this morning from the Unity church on the Sanders Ferry Road. Jones and Spigener will direct interment in the Caledonia cemetery. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Addie Parker of Tuscaloosa and Mrs. Stella Hollahan, also of this city, and three sons, Wesley Parker of Tuscaloosa, Walter Parker of Northport and Ed Parker of Coker. Note the various spellings of Mrs. Parker's given name (Viana, Venie, Vernie) and the Calcedonia/Caledonia church/cemetery. Please recheck Clarissa's date of death.
