Amos Davis Howle was the partner of William Foster Mellon in the Howle-Mellon Hardware business. He was the son of Thomas Alexander Howle and Flora Caroline Cooper of Oxford, Alabama. Amos was born May 22, 1888 in Oxford, Alabama and died October 12, 1918 WWI. He is buried at Oxford Memorial Gardens, Oxford, Alabama.
