from August 13, 1913 issue of LaFayette Sun:
"Dadeville Boy Drowned.
Fridays Opelika News says: Reports from Dadeville state that an awful tragedy occurred near that city yesterday, when Walter Corprew, son of C. M. Corprew, cashier of the Tallapoosa Bank of Dadeville, was browned in the Tallapoosa, where a party of young people were camping.
It is said that Miss Mary Oliver got in too deep water and young Corprew and Sam Nelson, also of that city, went to her aid. They got her safely on a rock, but Corprew slipped off the rock, and was so exhausted that although young Nelson made a game fight to rescue his companion, Corprew went to his death. Nelson was reported at first to be in a serious condition, although it is thought he will recover the dead boy was a nephew of Mrs. W. R. Watts, of this city."
