Yes, you are correct.Anna Eliza was living with Amos and Sallie. Also, notice Edmond Arnold Hodge and Anna's sister Roena are one family away.E.A. and Roena were married in Talladega in 1879.They went to Tennessee for a brief time after their marriage, but were back in what is currently called the Renfroe area before the birth of their first child, Maude, in 1882.Anna stayed in Tennessee and married Thomas Sedgwick. They lived in the Knoxville area until he died.Ultimately, she and her son moved to California where she died in the 1940's.
Also, you are correct about Lewis. He died in the Newport, Virginia area.I am in contact with many of his descendants.
In addition to the above three children, T.A. and L.C.'s first child, William Lafayette, died at Vicksburg in 1863.Their first daughter, Frances Roena died at age 12.Subsequently, they gave the name Roena to their fourth child.
If you look at census records for the Renfroe area prior to 1920 you will see it was called the "Cast" section of Talladega County. The father of Anna and Roena still used the surname "Cast" until the time of his death in 1863.
You probably have heard the story about how the earliest Cast/Cass progenitor was "pressed" into the British Navy at a very young age as a "Powder Monkey." On the ship he was called Cast. It was not until he deserted and was an adult he learned his true surname was Cass.
Most of the children of this progenitor untimately returned to the surname "Cass."I find it interesting that the marriage license of E.A. and Roena lists her surname as "Cast."However, her wedding band, which I have, is inscribed E.A.H. to Roe Cass.
I doubt most folks are interested in all of the details I have about the Cast/Cass and Eley families, so perhaps we should do this via E-mail.
Best Wishes,
Charles
