I contacted the Talladega County Cicuit Court a couple of weeks ago, in an effort to find a divorce record from 1946. I was told that the records could not be provided, due to their destruction in a fire in the 1950s. I have found no reference anywhere to a courthouse fire. Can anyone confirm this? I am helping a relative with a DAR application, and would like some specifics about the date of the fire. I need to show that I tried to find the record---I needed it to locate an elusive marriage date.
