James F Bolton married Martha Smith, in Alabama. Both were born there. According to what I have found, it was Sumter Couny.. His parents, John and Lydia Bolton went to Al from NC, then to TN, where one son, John, was born. It is Martha's family I cannot find. She and James were in Clarke County, MS on the 1850 census, with one year old Susan Jane. They named that child from someone in the family, as all did back then. I have been unable to find Martha's family. She was 20 years old on the 1850 census, and so was James.
