Marilyn,
Your spelling for "Breitling" is correct. Samuel Breitling, b. 1828, was the son of Gottleib Breitling and Magdalene Buetschi of Marengo County. Both were immigrants to the Vine and Olive Colony, Gottleib from Germany, his wife from Switzerland. I have much more on the family, and more is available on the Marengo County GenWeb site.
