Can anyone share ancestral info on William Winslett who married Martha Smith in Sumter County, AL abt 1870? Family lore has it that he “appeared on horseback” in Sumter County after the Civil War with no memory of his family (parents, siblings, etc.) or where he came from. Having read some accounts of the notorious Winslett brothers John and Samuel who migrated to VA from England in 1766, then to GA and eastern AL, might suggest that my William’s amnesia was more selective than natural. In any event, good or bad, I would still like to solve this family mystery. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
The following info on William Winslett and his descendants is from the family bible of his wife Martha Smith Winslett (they were my x2 grandparents):

I am also interested in the origin of some of the middle names of their children: Shaw, Lee, Watts, and Raymond.
Thanks in advance,
