David Lindsey, namesake of DAR Chapter

I have to ask ... has anyone found a documented genealogy for David Lindsey of Shelby Co, AL, namesake for the David Lindsey Chapter of the DAR at Montevallo, Shelby Co, AL?

When did this David Lindsey die? 1835 or 1842?
While an Alabama roadside marker states that David Lindsey died in 1835, several Lindsey researchers assure me that Patriot David Lindsey actually died "7 Feb 1842." (See web link below as well as messages shared on Lindsey Genforum).

I'm seeking evidence supporting the correct death date of DAR Patriot David Lindsey, and his correct name ... David Lindsey or David Elijah Lindsey?
