Fuller and Bell families, Cropwell, 1850-1870
I seek information about William Fuller and wife Mary Fuller who appear in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses for Saint Clair County as residents of Cropwell. In 1850, William and Mary lived next door to John Bell and wife Nancy Bell, in households 411 and 412. John Bell, household 411: male age 40, farmer, $1800 land value, born SC; wife Nancy Bell, age 42 born NC; children: Alsey F Bell, male age 20 born SC; Thomas P Bell, male age 15 born SC; James D Bell, male age 12 born SC; Mary [G?]Bell. female age 10, born SC.William Fuller, household 412: male age 37, farmer, $200 land value, born SC; wife Mary, age 37 born NC.I believe that Alsey F. Bell, age 20 in 1850, may have been named for Alsey Fuller (1777-1843, died York County, SC, buried in Fort Mill, SC), who may have been Alsey F. Bell's grandfather. I believe that William Fuller may have been the same William who was the son of Alsey Fuller (d.1843), and that John Bell may have been a cousin of William Fuller.William Fuller, son of Alsey Fuller, appears in the 1840 census of York County, SC, as between 20 and 30 years of age, with a wife of similar age and two daughters under 10.
The 1850 Saint Clair County William Fuller household was family number 259 in the 1860 census for St. Clair County for the Cropwell P. O.Wife listed with illegible first name and middle name Shaw.Children listed in 1860: James age 9 and Nancy age 7.1870 census shows Mary Fuller as a widow age 55 heading family number 122 in Cropwell, St. Clair County Alabama with children James D Fuller, age 19, and Nancy Fuller, age 17.
I have a fair amount of information on the York County Alsey Fuller family which may or may not be a connected family with the Saint Clair County William and Mary Fuller.I would be glad to compare notes with anyone familiar with these Saint Clair County families.
