Have you looked at Glennville? In the 1850's there were two schools of higher education located there. One was run by John Bowles Glenn. In either 1854 or 1856 he moved his school to Auburn, Lee County, Alabama. Today, it is called Auburn University. The other school was run by distant relatives who also had the last name of Glenn. I do not know anything about the school other than it existed at one time in Glennville. You will not find Glennville on any map. It is now just a crossroads with a few houses. Also, it was located in Barbour County prior to the civil war and move to Russell County after the war. Also, I believe that the Glenn's might be Methodist. My gggrandfather's half brother Asa James Holt married Melissa Harriet Glenn, daughter of John Bowles Glenn. Asa Holt's descendants credit him with being one of the founder of two Methodist Universities in Texas. McMurray in Abilene and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. I am sure that Asa provided money but was not an admistrator or teacher like his father-in-law, John Bowles Glenn.
