Old Cedric Oldest? Community Randolph Co

this older community
was in the area on the eastern side of
Randolph Co pretty near the stateline
district it s called
and they argued over and moved the
Ala / Ga state line boundary over
and over ...
So that means ... settlers who thought
they were living in Georgia WITHIN
the land given , ceded in treaties
from Cherokees etc were always pushing
that boundary to the west
first into creek territories ...
as the creeks were pretty well
finally defeated by the battle
of horseshoe bend1819 when
a militia headed by Andrew Jackson
from Tenn (later the pres andy jackson)
defeated the creeks in larger battle there
that batteground is about 25 miles to the
west in Tallapoosa Co and is a national
park ... off to the south about 1-2 miles
off of highway 22 to the west ...
so my guestimate is that old Cedric
was founded ??? 1810-20
and you must remember that esp Scots
were trading with the cherokee indians
and the creeks ... way way back
in late 1600s beginning 1700s
as for example Lachlan McGilvery
and then his son Alexander McGilvery
born to Lachlan and Creek wife
lived and was a chief of the Creeks
with hom to the east only about 10 miles
in Heard County , Ga and his homeplace
is marked up highway 27 (to the north
from east to west highway 34)
Alexander murdered as he was treated
to end fighting with whites by other
creeks who wanted to fight ...and that
was about ? 1790
note lottery for Heard Co, Ga
was about ? 1830 and it / Heard Co, Ga
was formed from Carroll co to the north
and from Troup Co to the south
and some from ? Cowetta to the east
