Annette, according to what I am reading, you seem to be saying that Wiley Jones was your gg grandfather...??? and that he was born about 1813 and you do not indicate where.. Now let's do a little math work on this thing.... Joseph Jones Sr is said to have been born in NC about 1765 and that works out well with his age of 95 when he died in 1861...So if he became a father at say age 18, that would be abt 1783. Again applying 18 years to his first child would bring us to 1801, making it very unlikely for Joseph to be a grandfather in 1813.....Not impossible, but very unlikely.
This would cause me to guess (because I don't really know) that either your Wiley is no kin to Joseph, or that Joseph had children long before I would suspect. There seems to have been several Jones males with the name Wiley back during that period and that makes things tough.
And I read in one part of your post that says Joseph did not know the names of the survivors of his son Wiley. If he did not know their names, then I think that says that Wiley and family did not live close by and that they had very little contact with each other....Whatever that might mean...So we will look a bit and see what we can find that would further identify your Wiley Jones.....docjones
