Seeking information on descendants of George W. White (1800-1891) and his first wife, Nicy Taylor (1793-1841). George and Nicy were married 22 Sep 1822 in the vicinity of McDonough, Henry Co., GA. Three children born of this marriage in GA: William Ellis White (b. 23 Sep 1823), Jessee Mack White (b.23 Mar 1827); and George Jefferson White (9 Sep 1834). George Jefferson White killed 22 Aug 1862 @ Battle of Hazle River, VA. George W. White's Family relocated to Henderson, Pike Co., AL about 1835. Nicy died 7 Jul 1841 in Montgomery and , presumably, is buried in Pike Co. George W. White remarried Sina Lowery, widow of Tobias Godwin, 3 Nov. 1841. In 1870, George W. White moved with his second family to Searight, Crenshaw Co. Jessee Mack White, his second wife, Mary Pierce, and his daughter, Nancy Missouri White, moved to Crenshaw Co. at the same time. George Jefferson White's widow, Nancy Pierce, and one of their two children, Daniel Jefferson White, remained in Pike Co.in the area around Troy. The other child, Elisha Q. White moved first to Boston, MA and later to Santa Ana, CA. The disposition of the family of the third child of George W. and Nicy White--William Ellis White--, his wife Tempy Godwin, and their four children is unknown. Sina Lowery (Godwin)(White) (1813-1883) had three children by her first marriage to Tobias Godwin (d. 28 Jul 1839 @ Pike Co.): Simon P.Godwin (died @ Barlow's Mill, outside Mobile, in the service of the CSA 26 Dec 1861; William T. Godwin (killed 27 Oct 1862 @ Chattanooga, TN in service of CSA. Third child, Penelope Caroline, died, age 5, in 1841. Notify Administrator about this message?
