Terrell Sanders -> James Sanders, Sanderstown lineage

Hello all, my father Nathaniel Brown, the son of Catherine Brown (Mother was Sanders, Fathers last name Head, born in Tuscaloosa 1914, step father's last name Hughes who was father of her younger siblings). Catherine was the grandchild of James Sanders.

From what I have been told, James was the son of Terrell Sanders, one of 14 kids. Terrell was the son of a white land owner and a slave. Terrell we believe was not ever a slave, as he owned land in Pickens county, 32 acres. When the state wanted to build a highway through his land, they claimed imminent domain and allotted 32 acres to this project, and in turn incorporated Sanderstown. This is all information obtained from my cousin, and I am trying desperately to piece together our history and preserve it before it is gone forever.

Thanks to anyone for any information you may have that may help lead me piece it all together!
