Mary,
Some names were very popular, Washington, Jackson, Robert, James, Elijah, Nancy, and Mary too. If fact my mom is Mary Williams.
It is certainly possible that a few of those Williamses may have migrated to Texas. In my direct line, they stayed in Alabama until James Washington Williams moved to Oklahoma "Indian Territory." My Williamses stayed in Oklahoma until my father and I moved to Texas in 1976.
Ignore Daisey under James Lacy in my previous post. It copied and pasted without my knowing.
Best of luck to you and let me know if there are any connections between us.
